CFP: ICML 2005 - Workshop on A workshop on inductive programming will be held in conjunction with the 22nd International Conference on Machine Learning in Bonn, Germany, on August 7th, 2005.
ICML 2005 page: http://icml2005.ais.fraunhofer.de/icml.php The workshop will bring together researchers from all the different fields of machine learning that study induction of general programs that contain control structures such as recursion or loops. A goal of the workshop is to give the participants insights into each others work and examine possibilities of cooperation both regarding theory and applications of program induction. The workshop will be interesting to anyone studying the synthesis of general programs. Relevant areas include but are not limited to inductive logic programming, genetic programming, synthesis of functional programs, grammar inference and algorithmic learning theory. Before the workshop begins, we plan to cooperatively compile a list of examples for the kinds of problems whose solutions may lead to the furthering of program induction and point out possible areas for investigation and cooperation. Submitted papers can report on work in progress or be full papers. All submissions will be peer reviewed by two referees. Accepted full papers are candidates for publication as a special topic of the Journal of Machine Learning Research (see seperate CfP). Authors should submit papers using the same format and length as will be required for the final version in the proceedings which will be made available to the participants in electronic form prior to the workshop. They will also be distributed in CD and paper versions at the workshop. Papers may be up to 12 pages long (full papers should be no shorter than 6 pages, work in progress reports should be no shorter than 4 pages). Layout must follow the ICML style described at http://icml2005.ais.fraunhofer.de/papers/format To submit your paper, please send it as pdf with e-mail to emanuel.kitzelmann(at)wiai.uni-bamberg.de together with an indication whether the paper is a work in progress report or a full paper. Please also indicate (per email to the address above) if you do not wish to be included in the mailing list for the workshop where discussions on relevant open problems and possibilites for cooperation may take place before the workshop begins. The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2005. Further important dates are:
More information about the workshop and the program committee can be found at the workshop webpage: http://www.cogsys.wiai.uni-bamberg.de/aaip/index.html Welcome to the first workshop ever striving to cover all areas of program induction!
